Flourishing Lives is looking for a new Head of Engagement to join our Executive staff team. The Head of Engagement will work alongside the Programme Director to co-lead and manage Flourishing Lives’ strategic direction, finances, and operations. Working with the Programme Director and Board of Trustees, they will create and manage a strategic framework to ensure that the Flourishing Lives coalition continues to be a hub for best practice, creativity, inclusion, and innovation across the older people’s arts and wellbeing sector. About Flourishing Lives: Flourishing Lives is the only London-wide body dedicated to older people, the arts and wellbeing. We are a coalition of over 600 arts, health and wellbeing organisations and older people’s groups working collaboratively to champion positive ageing, amplify the voices of older people and empower people over the age of 55 to lead richer, more independent lives. We help transform the lives of older people, by promoting community, expression, access and lifelong learning through engagement with the arts. Over the last 6 months, work has been underway to shape our new strategy and we are excited to be starting 2025 with a bold and ambitious plan for the next 5 years. We are looking for a Head of Engagement to share in this excitement and help us deliver this next phase of work. Main Responsibilities: Strategic Leadership: The Flourishing Lives Executive team consists of two members of staff: a full-time Programme Director, and part-time (0.6 FTE) Head of Engagement. The Head of Engagement will provide vision, leadership and direction in collaboration with the Board of Trustees, Programme Director, Lived Experience Action & Advisory Groups, arts and wellbeing partner organisations, and community groups. Co-lead on strategy development, in partnership with the Board and Programme Director. Financial Management" Co-develop and implement, with the Programme Director, a funding strategy that explores and maintains short- and long-term funding options, in order to secure the necessary finances to cover Flourishing Lives’ core costs and deliver projects to achieve Flourishing Lives’ mission. Work with the Programme Director to process and administer payments and expenses. Work with the Programme Director to manage Flourishing Lives’ budget. Programmes: Responsible for the Reflective Practice, Intergenerational practice and Best practice programmes, Age Activism campaigns and policy work. Co-produce Positive Ageing showcase arts activities and events. Work with the Programme Director to coordinate, plan, and manage the above programmes, ensuring aims and objectives are achieved. Ensure effective and efficient monitoring and evaluation of programmes. Continue to build the evidence base of the value and impact of programmes, including through liaisons with academics. Work with the Programme Director to prepare reports to funders. Partnerships and Relationships Work with the Programme Director to: Sustain and develop the ethos of Flourishing Lives through proactively engaging stakeholders across the older people’s arts and wellbeing sector and civil society to promote and advance positive ageing. Build and maintain strong strategic partnerships with local, regional, national and international organisations and groups who share similar mission and values. Develop and maintain strong relationships with funders and with potential beneficiaries. Proactively keep abreast of local and national initiatives and best practice. Ensure an inclusive culture and ethos of warmth, respect, best practice, and good communication. Build and maintain close working relations with Flourishing Lives’ trustees. Communications and Marketing: Work with the Programme Director on the creation and delivery of Flourishing Lives’ communications and marketing strategy to ensure the work and its outcomes reach a wide network of beneficiaries and stakeholders. Activities to implement that strategy will likely include: acting as a spokesperson for Flourishing Lives and as an advocate for Flourishing Lives and its partners at network meetings and events, facilitating workshops, roundtables and events alongside delivery partners, managing Flourishing Lives’ social media channels and newsletters alongside the Programme Director, and attending conferences and networking meetings where appropriate. Experience of working with partners and an ability to communicate effectively with diverse audiences and stakeholders. Experience of developing strategic partnerships to achieve mission-driven outcomes in the charitable, arts or health sector. Experience of financial / budget management. An ability to drive projects to completion. Desirable criteria An understanding of best practice in relation to: equality, diversity and inclusion; safeguarding; and data protection. An understanding of organisational brand and reputation. Experience working with a Board of Trustees or non-Executive Board. Experience of communicating impact and outcomes with qualitative and quantitative reporting for stakeholders including funders, Trustees and partners. Experience of successfully increasing an organisation’s income (for example through having successfully delivered a fundraising campaign). Experience of managing volunteers.
