Our trust provides a preceptorship programme for newly qualified Band 5 midwives, but we are also recruiting experienced Band 6 Midwives to join our dynamic, dedicated, forward-thinking professional team. The team covers a wide geographical area with both rural and urban communities within this area. This is a rotational post; therefore, a UK driving licence is required to meet the needs of the service.
Responsibilities include:
1. Provide maternity care to women and birthing people within an obstetric unit and within the local community setting.
2. Work at South Lakes Birth Centre located within Furness General Hospital in Barrow-in-Furness.
3. Utilize facilities including a Maternity Triage, Day Assessment Unit, two Maternity Theatres, and Community Midwifery Offices.
4. Participate in the care of neonates in the Level 1 Special Care Baby Unit.
5. Engage in multidisciplinary training within a dedicated simulation suite.
We operate from three main hospitals - Furness General Hospital (FGH) in Barrow, the Royal Lancaster Infirmary (RLI), and Westmorland General Hospital (WGH) in Kendal, as well as a number of community healthcare premises. All three main hospitals provide a range of planned care including outpatients, diagnostics, therapies, day case and inpatient surgery.
