We are seeking a dynamic and motivated individual to work as an Associate Practitioner in this friendly, well-equipped Cellular Pathology department, which processes approximately 35,000 samples per year, providing essential services to the Trust and the wider health care community.
You will have excellent communication, interpersonal and organizational skills and your work will ensure that the department continues to deliver a high quality, timely and effective service, where patient experience and safety is central.
The role will require the post-holder to be flexible and highly organised, able to align their values with those of the organisation and to work as part of an enthusiastic team with a 'can-do' positive attitude.
Main duties of the job
The successful candidate will be expected to participate in all aspects of routine Cellular Pathology including specimen reception, microtomy, embedding, special staining techniques, and Immunohistochemistry. Developmental opportunities are available for specimen dissection for RCPATH category A specimens, Quality Management and Health & Safety.
Experience of working in a Cellular Pathology laboratory, whilst not essential would be advantageous. The post holder will also be expected to help support the training and development of junior staff.

Qualifications & Experience
* Foundation degree, equivalent education/qualifications in Healthcare Science
* Experience of working in a Cellular Pathology (or other) laboratory setting
Skills & Abilities
* Be able to follow technically complex procedures and protocols
* Ability to organise own workload and demonstrate initiative
* Experience of performing Histology techniques e.g. embedding, microtomy, staining
Personal Attributes
* Evidence of the ability to work individually and as part of a team
* Demonstration of excellent communication and interpersonal skills
* Evidence of training or mentoring a colleague
