One in two individuals born after 1960 will be affected by cancer in the UK. The need for a standardised approach to cancer education, thereby increasing knowledge and confidence of the cancer care workforce, is crucial. NHS England recognises this and has developed and launched the Aspirant Cancer Career and Education Development (ACCEND) programme. The programme provides guidance on knowledge, skills, and capabilities required by all non-medical health care professionals who care for people living with cancer.
Main duties of the job
The post holder will have a key role as a senior nurse or AHP in the trust together with Lead Nurses and Line Managers to support the implementation of the ACCEND framework and help embed it into current processes for the existing and future non-medical cancer workforce. They will promote continuous learning and development and raise awareness of the variety of cancer education, training, and career opportunities.
This project plans to focus on the development, expansion, and sustainability of practice learning by developing a supportive learning environment for the cancer care workforce. The role will help create resources to support line managers and to develop ACCEND champions/mentors. There will be a focus on attracting and retaining staff by offering structured professional development by increasing awareness of career pathways in cancer.

Person Specification
Qualifications and Training
* Registered Health Professional i.e. NMC or HCPC
* Teaching/Education Qualification or relevant experience
* Evidence of recent professional development and its application in the clinical workplace
Knowledge and Experience
* Recent experience of working with pre and post-registration learners in healthcare professions and part of a work-based environment
* Recent clinical experience in an acute healthcare setting
* Recent experience of practice development and teaching
* Good working knowledge of education as part of a complex health care organisation
* Understanding of innovative education methods, including development of blended resources and teaching tools
* Familiarity with and use of the ACCEND Framework
* Comprehensive understanding and experience of teaching and undertaking clinical audit
* Recent experience of service development and implementation of change
* Recent evidence of working on Trust-wide projects/initiatives
* Knowledge of effectively engaging diverse groups of learners
