Job summary We are expanding our respiratory specialist nurses services in line with expansion to the respiratory service in Leicester & we have substantive posts available Are you passionate about paediatric respiratory care & looking to develop into a specialist nurse role? Do you have existing skills which would allow you to act as a patient advocate & develop into a clinical expert? You will primarily care for children with complex respiratory needs both at home, within the hospital & outpatients department. You will work alongside existing multi-disciplinary respiratory teams in caring for children with a variety of respiratory diseases which include: Asthma Non-CF Bronchiectasis ( including PCD diagnostics) Chronic Lung Disease of prematurity ( Home oxygen) Sleep apneoa ( including partaking in sleep studies & supporting families on CPAP) Complex respiratory ( including tracheostomy & LTV) Main duties of the job Act as the clinical expert & professional resource to the child, carer & MDT, within the paediatric respiratory specialist nurse service Participate in nurse-led telephone & patient facing clinics Supporting respiratory clinics by providing advice & education to child, young person & carer. Directly or indirectly influence all aspects of care and management of patients within the respiratory service Deliver high quality, clinically effective care, and patient experience, utilising research in collaboration with colleagues in everyday practice. Setting up evening sleep studies for children attending for polysomnography on the wards (usually once a week) Supporting the PCD diagnostic clinics as required (minimum of once a month) Provide cross-cover support to other sub-specialist areas (inpatient and outpatient) within the children's respiratory service; including cystic fibrosis, PCD & long term ventilation. Act as a role model and clinical resource demonstrating high standards of care and providing clinical leadership in the specialist respiratory service. Support the development and delivery of a program of practice and professional development for staff within the service.
