Key Dimensions: The post holder will gain experience working in Cancer services for 18 months. They will work across haematology CNS and TYAC services within the working week. Experience will be gained by working across in-patient and out-patient areas. It is expected by the end of the 18-month period that the nurse will be a competent practitioner and innovator for cancer nursing. By the end of the 18 months, the individual will be competent and confident in the assessment, management, treatment and psychological support of cancer patients and families. The skills and experience acquired will incorporate chemotherapy knowledge, symptom management, radiotherapy treatments, advanced communication, end of life experience and skills in audit. The post holder must be willing to undertake the academic Specialist Oncology Degree Module Head 359 and/or other local education/study days as deemed appropriate. SEE FULL JD
