RAC is looking for a VAT specialist to join our Tax Team as a Senior Indirect Tax Manager at our iconic Head Office in Walsall, on a hybrid working basis. In this role, you’ll be reporting to the Head of Corporate Finance at RAC and it will be your responsibility to carry out reporting on all aspects of VAT, IPT and employment taxes, whilst driving improvements in tax compliance, governance and forecasting. You will provide high quality and timely indirect tax and employment tax advice to RAC businesses to ensure we always remain compliant. You will also be responsible for optimising the tax position of the group by ensuring all available reliefs are claimed correctly and commercial arrangements are structured appropriately. What you’ll be doing Review and sign off all UK and Irish indirect tax filings and support and coach one direct report Seek to enhance existing financial controls and current reporting processes including through automation Provide VAT and IPT input to budgets and forecasts as required by central finance team Proactively engage with and answer to requests for indirect tax specialist assistance from legal, divisional finance, IT project and operational teams Plan and carry out work required to respond to all HMRC indirect tax enquiries and audit visits Undertake IR35 assessments, oversee preparation of and review the PSA, and in conjunction with external advisors provide ad hoc employment tax support to HR Manage SAO process including management and oversight of the tax risk register, preparation of file for SAO sign-off and identification and resolution of control weaknesses in conjunction with operational teams across the business Deputise for and support the Head of Corporate Finance as required on other tax-related projects Stay up to date on relevant legislative and case law developments We would love to meet someone with Relevant VAT and IPT experience gained through both in-house and practice role Good financial accounting skills and commercial awareness Understanding and experience of MTD requirements for VAT and partial exemption Experience working in fast-paced delivery- focussed environments Experience of working in a small or medium sized in-house team Experience of other taxes in particular employment taxes desirable VAT experience at Tax Manager level either in practice or in-house ACA qualified or equivalent CTA qualification preferred but not essential Minimum of 5 years’ post-qualification experience In return, we offer FREE RAC Ultimate Complete Breakdown Service from Day One. 25 days annual leave entitlement plus bank holidays.
