Job Advert Role Description
We are looking to recruit a highly motivated Fitness Instructor to join our team based at Stockton Hall Hospital. Stockton Hall is a medium secure hospital caring for adult patients (18 years and older) suffering from mental illness, personality disorder and mild to moderate learning disability.
Directly reporting to the Lead Occupational Therapist, the post holder will work as part of the multi-disciplinary team who treat and care for patients requiring the level of security that can be maintained within a medium secure unit.
The fitness instructor will support patients to engage in exercise as an intervention to enhance both their physical and mental health needs. The role involves developing therapeutic relationships with patients by working across our male and female wards to promote the benefits of physical activity and supporting them to make positive lifestyle changes.
The post holder will be responsible for ensuring the safety of patients whilst exercising by ensuring correct and safe exercise techniques whilst in the gym and within groups. The role requires excellent written and verbal communication skills to accurately document within the electronic medical notes the progress of patients, provide comprehensive verbal updates to other professionals within the clinical team and facilitate sports/exercise groups either on site or in the community.
