The Role:
Experienced Financial Accountant to assist the Finance department, with all areas of financial and management accounting and to provide management information, analysis and reporting to stakeholders, both internal and external. Supporting other members of the team as required.
Key responsibilities:
Financial Reporting
1. Preparation and review of weekly and monthly management information to allow analysis of business activity and aid informed decision making.
2. Liaise with Group MI team to provide requested MI and answer ad hoc queries.
3. Ensure accurate, timely and insightful data produced in line with business requirements.
4. Preparation of papers for group, and contribution to financial aspects of PMC papers.
5. Other ad hoc reporting/provision of MI as required to support evaluation of strategic opportunities.
Financial Accounting
1. Preparation and review of monthly management accounts through to final review stage, providing analysis and commentary on results against plan.
2. Preparation of year end statutory accounts to review stage, liaise with auditors to ensure year end process completed smoothly.
3. Accounting information to be produced in accurate and timely manner using techniques and standards that adhere to accounting rules.
4. Updating the FC/CFO with any issues on a timely basis and being point of contact for other teams queries.
5. Preparation of group reporting schedules on a quarterly basis ensuring accuracy of information.
Budgeting and Forecasting
1. Assist with the provision of relevant projections and estimations to enable accurate budget preparation. Liaise with Group FP&A team, if required, to provide requested information and analysis.
Capital and liquidity
1. Provision of relevant calculations and reporting to enable regular completion of capital forecasts and liquidity requirements.
2. Various ad hoc reporting requirements.
Regulatory reporting
1. Accurate and timely MI to be produced per business needs.
2. Regular monitoring of FCA due dates. Preparation of accurate and timely regulatory returns to be produced and submitted on FCA RegData system.
Risk
1. Understand Risk Appetite statements and how they apply to the business area.
2. Ensure key business risks are fully understood, controlled and mitigated on the team to ensure local plans are delivered and we meet our regulatory requirements.
3. Ensure key controls are tested and Risk Events are reported and investigated in accordance with the Risk Event & Escalation process.
4. Regular risk reports demonstrate effective management.
5. Control frameworks regularly tested with improvement plans agreed and implemented.
People
1. Act as point of contact and support for members of the Accounting and Analysis team, providing leadership.
Key Knowledge, Skills & Experience:
1. Qualified Chartered Accountant at one of the recognized bodies with up to 2 years post qualification experience.
2. Demonstrate an understanding of FCA regulations and reporting requirements, ensuring compliance and accurate submission of regulatory returns.
3. Effectively manage to tight deadlines while maintaining the quality of outputs.
