Job summary
As the Pharmacy Technician lead you be at the forefront of our modernisation programme. Your responsibilities will include:
Providing leadership to a team of pharmacy technicians, scientists and trainees and support a team of pharmacists,
Delivering training to health care professionals across the Health board and providing Medicines Advice to health care professionals and patients across multiple health boards and nationally will be a key part of the role, contributing to the enhancement and modernisation of these services
Collaborating with stakeholders to deliver innovative strategies for advancing medicines governance practices, whilst also retaining a strong focus on medicines safety.
We are looking for a qualified experienced Pharmacy Technician with exceptional leadership skills and the ability to motivate and inspire teams and colleagues.
The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post; Welsh and/or English speakers are equally welcome to apply.
Main duties of the job
1. Organise the day's work for the team, ensuring departmental work is completed within agreed timescales.
2. Coordinate cover for annual leave, sickness, study days and lieu time.
3. Prioritise workload effectively and analyse situations to resolve problems
4. Contribute to service developments ensuring change is managed smoothly, to assist this process and audit service against set standards.
5. Support and maintain a high-quality service, conducted according to national and local guidance, to users within the Pharmacy department, throughout the UHB and external customers.
6. Report departmental statistics, including errors and incidents, to manager on a monthly basis and identify possible areas for improvement
7. Provide specialist advice to patients regarding any MA related query received by the department; this is usually via telephone but can be face to face, letter or electronically.
8. Provide a regular service to the dispensary or Medicines Management, this includes dispensing and accuracy checking medicines.
9. Understand the competing priorities of risk management and financial pressures to manage the MA centre information resources effectively
10. Responsible for training and supporting technical pharmacy staff in the delivery of medicines advice
11. Act as "Key Trainer" for MA ensuring all staff are trained in local practices.
12. Establish and maintain links with other senior technicians, managers and other pharmacy staff to ensure the service meets their needs.
