Job summary
We welcome applications from qualified nurses to support the everyday practice operations and offer clinical guidance, knowledge, and skills as a Lead cancer nurse. The CDSC will assist the Primary Care Network (PCN) in delivering improvements to the services we provide our patients in relation to the following aspects of patient care.
Main duties of the job
1. Participation in national cancer screening programmes.
2. Ensuring robust and supportive referral practices are in place for patients suspected of having cancer; including use of guidelines, professional development, and safety netting of those referred.
3. Working collaboratively to shorten timescales of diagnostic intervals.
4. Forming productive and supportive relationships with practiced staff who have the skills, knowledge and remit to contribute to this work.
5. Assisting practices to evaluate their screening uptake and engage hard to reach populations to reduce health inequalities.
6. Providing advice and support to practices on cancer audit/referral review of cancer diagnoses.
7. Developing consistent safety netting approaches/systems to monitor patients referred urgently with suspected cancer.

Qualifications

* Registered Nurse Diploma or Degree in Nursing.
* Current NMC registration.
* Evidence of continuing professional development.

Experience

* Relevant clinical experience.
* Experience of working in MDT settings.
* Experience of accurate documenting of clinical information.
Desirable
* Experience in Primary Care.
