POSITION: Chief Commercial Officer (CCO)
REPORTS TO: CEO
The Opportunity- Chief Commercial Officer
Solent Group is seeking a dynamic Chief Commercial Officer to join the business to deliver our ambitious commercial strategy while driving revenue and market growth. This newly created role reports directly to the CEO and focuses on managing senior-level relationships with both UK and international grocery retailers. It carries full P&L responsibility for the Group, overseeing approximately £154 million in sales.
The ideal candidate will have executive-level experience in Retail or FMCG (Top 4 Grocers), with deep expertise in our product categories. They should be passionate about driving outstanding results within a fast-growing, innovative global business.
Frequent international and domestic travel is required, primarily to Asia and South Africa.
Requirements
Key Responsibilities
* Strategic leadership and commercial strategy- develop and implement a comprehensive commercial strategy to achieve growth targets and align with business objectives.
* Customer & Market Focus-strengthen and maintain relationships with key customers, ensuring a customer-centric approach that supports retention and satisfaction.
* Financial performance and accountability-deliver against revenue, profitability, and growth targets, while setting and monitoring commercial KPIs across the group.
* Team leadership and development- provide inspirational leadership, coaching, and support to a team of approximately six people across the UK, Asia, and South Africa.
* Governance and compliance-ensure adherence to all commercial agreements, contracts, and legal frameworks, upholding Solent’s values and ethical standards.
* Stakeholder engagement and strategic partnerships- build and maintain strategic partnerships that align with broader business objectives.
About You
* Minimum 5 years’ experience as a Commercial Director, CCO or similar.
* Retail/FMCG experience, dealing with Top 4 Grocers is essential.
* Exceptional leadership and team management experience.
* Emotionally intelligent leadership style that promotes collaborative working.
* Results-driven with a commercial mindset to identify new opportunities.
