2. The role arises with the group finance team due to continued growth in the Group through M&A
3. The Group Financial Accountant is responsible for technical accuracy of the group consolidation, acquisition accounting and ownership of current and upcoming (IFRS15) technical accounting considerations.
4. Suitable and ideal for a first move from accounting practice, this is an excellent entry point into a challenging and acquisitive private equity backed organisation with opportunity to develop and progress.
Key Responsibilities:
5. Responsible for timely and thorough risk focussed review of the group consolidation each month. Focus on legal entity components of the consolidation working closely with the Director of Group Finance and the Group Tax Manager to ensure that accounting profit is arising in the correct legal entity and (any) balance sheet audit risk is well understood, managed and communicated.
6. Current reporting GAAP is FRS 102, the role will be key in planning for the adoption of the most recent review of FRS 102 (IFRS15 revenue recognition implications) and any future adoption of IFRS.
7. Driving continuous improvement in quality of financial accounting within the regions by identifying improvement points and monitoring implementation of those points by regions
8. Responsible for the preparation of quarterly and annual lender covenant reporting
9. Manage the technical aspects of the year end consolidation work (multiple jurisdictions and currencies), disclosures, key notes, statutory cash flow statement, impairment reviews, SECR reporting, dealing with auditor queries. Work with external preparers to produce and review statutory financial statements.
10. Business combination accounting, accurate conclusion as soon as practicable following acquisition.
11. Be a focal point for technical accounting questions and projects around the group.
12. Line manage a team of two FTEs that are responsible for (amongst other things):
13. Month end and year end accounting for Group holding companies.
14. Maintenance of the integrity of Group reporting systems, completeness of cost centres, responsibility for chart of accounts, month end transaction refreshes / transaction completeness. Overall responsibility for inter-company position reconciliations.
15. Management (incl. forecasting) of Group holding company cash positions.
16. Management of ERP TEST environments: access, contention management, regular snap-shots
Skills, Knowledge and Experience :
17. Recognised professional accountancy qualification (ACA, ACCA, CIMA)
18. Audit or/and Statutory Reporting proficiency. Likely to have worked for a UK top 10 accounting firm
19. UK GAAP proficiency – experience of multiple currency consolidation
20. Intermediate to Advanced Excel. Microsoft Word and PowerPoint working knowledge.
21. Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Ability to communicate effectively at all levels of the organisation with both financial and non-financial colleagues
22. Energetic, self-starter who relishes the challenges of a fast moving business environment
