Ampa (one of the UK's leading group of legal and professional services businesses) is looking for an interim (initial 12m fixed term contract) Head of People Business Partnering to join their growing business operations (Ampa Group Services) division.
What you will be doing:
As a Head of People Business Partnering, reporting to the People Director, you will build relationships at Executive level across all our house of brands working with all the People Partners and leadership teams. A key component of the role will be working alongside the Managing Director and the People Partnering team supporting our largest brand.
You will be leading the delivery of the people agenda for Shakespeare Martineau (Shma), build business and leadership capability whilst developing a high-performance culture. You will need to be brave and business-minded to explore progressive commercial ways of working to facilitate growth. Driving performance management, forecasting/budgeting, workforce planning, project and change management. Exploring, challenging and co-designing team structures to improve efficiency and effectiveness. Generate insight from data, converting it into tangible deliverables aligned to the business’s stated ambitions and strategy. Acting as a coach, partner and advisor to the MD and Super Team Leaders.
The Head of People Business Partnering is an outcome focused, influential change agent who challenges the status quo, whilst navigating their way through ambiguous and complex situations. They continuously progress the people experience, embedding the firm’s values and behaviours; creating and delivering the People Plan for the Shma brand and working with the People partnering team to ensure we have People Plans across all our brands and are identifying synergies or difference across the brands where differing approaches may be required.
Working with the People Director and People leadership team you will support in the development and implementation of People initiatives in alignment with the business strategy and the People strategy.
Key Areas of Focus
* Partner with SHMA MD to build, understand and/or interpret strategic initiatives, defining and leading the people plan for the SHMA brand, ensuring this is aligned to the firm’s strategic ambitions and cultural experience we want to create for our people.
* Coach and advise the MD on all people, leadership and change related matters – leveraging expertise and experience to guide toward both culturally and commercially aligned outcomes.
* Lead, coach and develop the SHMA People Partners and People Advisors that support the SHMA brand to support delivery of the SHMA people plan
* Lead, coach and develop the People Partners across our other key brands to support delivery and development of people plans in each business
* Plan, forecast and lead People activity delivery – calling upon the wider People teams, Ops, TA, L&D, Reward, People advisory
* Supporting the business in driving and managing change effectively, using change management tools and processes to ensure that teams continue to operate effectively
* Acts as a coach to senior leaders STL’s and Members decisions and direction.
* Building leadership capability (e.g. people management and development), facilitating team conversations and working with Senior Leadership team to support teams plans to achieve the overall brand strategy
* Monitoring, measuring and reporting on People KPI’s – including HR issues, opportunities and development plans and achievements, through HR data analysis, to enable fact-based decision making.
* Informing and influencing reward decisions effectively within the SHMA brand, ensuring compliance with the firmwide Reward approach and fairness & consistency of decision making
* Championing the learning agenda within teams, ensuring we track succession planning and development. Monitoring the participation in the relevant leadership programmes and utilisation of the apprenticeship levy
* Facilitating discussions and future and potential talent to ensure we understand our current capabilities, gaps to create succession plans, reinforcing inclusion and assessing against EDI principles
* Liaising with the Recruitment & Member Services on senior level and lateral partner hires
* Works closely with the Head of Commercial Finance, Talent Acquisition and Early Ambitions teams to understand planning, forecasting, and future hiring needs
* Facilitating discussions around change and transformation, providing expert and pragmatic, commercial advice based on a deep understanding of the business
* Providing our people with a range of different options, resources and experiences to encourage them to take ownership of their own performance, careers and learning
* Embed our culture and values, including our Responsible Business and EDI commitments.
* Influencing and being part of project teams delivering business strategies and initiatives. Co-design pan group people initiatives across the group
* Facilitate the group PP teams to ensure best practice and consistency of people approach across group in line with group culture
What you will need:
* Excellent stakeholder relationship management skills, partnering and challenging Senior Leaders
* Generalist HR experience with strong understanding and practical experience of complex ER.
* Ideally your experience will include exposure to organisational development and change management.
* A track record of coaching, motivating and influencing Executive and senior management leadership levels.
* Previous experience of partnering with a business on a range of people related projects
* Experience of working across a diverse range of industry sectors
* Excellent stakeholder relationship management skills
