DNO - Warhead Assistant Head Planning and Capability
The successful candidate will report to the Deputy Head of Governance and Engagement in the Nuclear Transport Operations Group (NTOG) and be responsible for:
1. Compiling and delivering the strategic demand and prioritisation plan for the Nuclear Transport Operations Group.
2. Developing operational improvement plans based on future strategic capability requirements.
3. Developing, implementing, and owning the strategic operational programme and ensuring the Nuclear Transport Operations Group can horizon scan for the future and ensure operational readiness.
4. Owning the front door process for all requirements submitted to the Nuclear Transport Operations Group by wider DNO programmes.
5. Working closely with the Operations Team to establish priorities and plans.
6. Driving continuous improvement.
The successful candidate will have strong communication skills and maintain positive working relationships with the wider DNO, AWE, DE&S, Ministry of Defence Police, Rolls Royce, etc. The successful candidate will work well within a large team and draw in the necessary subject matter experts when required.
Hybrid and flexible working can be considered for this post but will need regular workplace attendance due to security constraints. Candidates are encouraged to discuss options with the recruiting line manager before submitting an application. The successful candidate will be required to attend All Staff Away Days and Team Days that will alternate between Abbey Wood and Aldermaston several times per year.

The post does not offer relocation expenses. External recruits who join the MOD who are new to the Civil Service will be subject to a six-month probation period. Where business needs allow, some roles may be suitable for a combination of office and home-based working. This is a non-contractual arrangement where all office-based employees will be expected to spend a minimum of 60% of their working time in the office, subject to capacity and any required workplace adjustments.
