Step Teachers are seeking a Teaching Assistant located in Edmonton commencing as soon as possible. This full-time position is for 2 months initially, with potential extension based on performance and school discretion. Your duties as a Teaching Assistant : Assist the Reception teacher in planning and delivering engaging lessons and activities. Provide support to children both individually and in small groups, helping them develop key skills. Support the teacher in managing classroom behavior and ensuring a positive, inclusive environment. Help children with personal care routines as needed, including during breaks, lunchtime, and transitions. Observe and record children’s progress, and contribute to assessments as part of the development plan. Work closely with other staff members to support the learning and wellbeing of children. Create a stimulating and safe classroom environment that encourages curiosity and exploration. Assist with the preparation of resources and materials for lessons and activities. To be considered for th is Teaching Assistant position, you will: A positive, patient, and nurturing attitude towards working with young children. Experience working with young children, ideally in an early years or reception setting. A Level 2 or 3 qualification in Childcare or Early Years Education (or equivalent) is desirable. Ability to support children in their learning and development, both academically and socially as a Teaching Assistant. Strong communication skills, both with children and staff.
