THE ROLE
My client is looking to recruit a Chartered Structural Engineer to join their team in Manchester. This is a busy and varied role providing support to the local and Engineering teams on a wide range of projects, including structural surveys and structural designs for residential, commercial, and industrial properties, as well as providing advice to the insurance sector and assisting with our regional frameworks. The Chartered Engineer is expected to support the Engineering Line Manager and is responsible for handling projects within their own level of authority and providing training and guidance to supporting team members. This position provides a perfect opportunity for the successful candidate to show their ambition, drive, and passion for customer service, as well as deliver our values in a professional manner. Good interpersonal communication skills are essential.
RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Undertaking technical and feasibility studies, including organising site investigations.
2. Using a range of software to develop detailed structural designs as well as hand calculations.
3. Liaising with clients and a variety of professionals including contractors and architects.
4. Preparation of contract documents and management of tenders.
5. Resolving design and development problems.
6. Management of budget and project resources.
7. Ensuring that all projects comply with legal requirements including CDM2015, Party wall, and Listed buildings.
8. Undertaking large value projects independently with sound knowledge of all aspects of professional consultancy services.
9. Assessment of sustainability and environmental impact of projects.
10. Contributing to the company’s marketing objectives, targets, and initiatives.
11. Assisting the director with training and development of the engineering team.
12. Inspection/Supervision of construction work on-site under contract, preparation of interim and final accounts, claims, and practical completion.
13. Providing supervision and support to ICE/IStructE candidates to promote knowledge and understanding.
14. At all times complying with the requirements of the Company’s administrative, personnel procedures, and Health & Safety regulations.
