A Vacancy at Birmingham and Solihull Mental Health NHS Foundation Trust.
Our Steps to Recovery service provides residential rehabilitation to service users with severe and enduring mental health conditions who require a specialist programme of support and intervention to increase their confidence and skills to live independently. Each unit is unique in its establishment and provides a range of accommodation and level of supervision. This can range from single occupancy rooms, or more independent rehabilitation offered within individual flats or shared home settings
We are looking for an individual with motivation and enthusiasm for working and engaging service users in creative and meaningful activities whilst in residential placement. Many of these activities may be indicated as part of an individuals recovery based care, alongside other members of the MDT, whilst others are offered to support the community as a whole and aimed at building social relationships and providing support in the community.
The successful candidate will have an understanding of Recovery within a rehabilitation setting and be willing to support service users in meeting their individual recovery goals. They will provide an activity based programme across the unit, under the direction of the Occupational Therapist and nursing team, and in response to the changing needs of service users. Therefore, we are particularly keen to consider candidates who are innovative, with good communication skills and have confidence in engaging service users in a wide range of activities.
• Working alongside and under the direction of the Occupational Therapist and nursing team, to deliver a ward based programme of activities in response to the changing needs of service users.
• Supporting service users in engaging with recovery based activities and identifying interests that are meaningful to them.
• Supporting group and 1:1 activity in the community as needed, with other staff.
• Engaging service users in decision making and planning for community activities.
• Ensuring all information is recorded in a timely manner and that all risk and relevant information is recorded in line with Trust requirements.
• Participating in decision making regarding service improvement and development.
