The Radiology Service delivers a diagnostic and treatment service for approximately 600,000 patients a year. The Service comprises several imaging modalities, each with up to 100 staff, providing a high quality clinical radiology service for patients. The service includes the Leeds and Wakefield breast screening programme which screens 180,000 women per round length. The Leeds Teaching Hospitals Trust provides tertiary and secondary care and covers a wide geographical area. Radiology Services are provided on several sites across Leeds and the post holder will be required to travel to sites across the trust. The post holder will be a state registered Radiographer with the Health Care Professions Council (HCPC) and will work within codes of practice and professional guidelines. As a professional clinical manager and a member of the radiology management team, they will be responsible for leading, developing and managing all resources (human, physical and financial) for an imaging modality or service area within Radiology across multiple sites in the Leeds Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust (LTHT). The post holder has accountability for delivering a safe, effective, efficient and quality service appropriate for all users in accordance with the Trusts strategic plans and operational policies. They are accountable for delivering service-related targets, implementing legislation and national frameworks. Post holders at this level are expected to have significant knowledge of the specific modality including technical and operational issues. They will provide specialist advice and be consulted on a wide range of issues which arise in their modality. They will ensure the highest standards of technical, clinical and operational practice are in place within the modality and that principles of clinical governance are implemented at a local level. They will be responsible for the day-to-day management of staff and patients in their modality and will work to the Trust policies in place on all aspects of staff management. They will be easily identifiable to patients, provide strong leadership through a visible presence and provide support, advice and assistance required by patients, their families and carers. They will work closely with medical and senior management staff from within the radiology CSU and externally within the trust and WYATT.
