Flair Care Solutions bridges the gap to independent living for young people aged 16-17 years, providing support, accommodation and life skills, in preparation for the challenges and to help them achieve their goals.
We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Support Worker to join our team. The ideal candidate will play a crucial role in providing emotional, social and practical support to young people in supported accommodation.
Responsibilities
* Provide emotional support: Offer guidance to help young people manage their emotions and cope with personal challenges.
* Promote positive behaviour: Encourage positive behaviour while addressing and challenging unacceptable behaviour.
* Support Education: Assist young people with their educational needs, including homework help and attending school/college meetings.
* Develop Life Skills: Teach and support independent living skills such as budgeting, shopping, cooking, and basic home maintenance.
* Build Relationships: Establish trust and positive relationships with young people to create a supportive environment.
* Advocate for Young People: Represent young people's interests in meetings and ensure their needs are met.
* Safeguarding: Ensure safeguarding of young people is your priority. Protect the welfare of young people and ensure you follow policy and procedure to report any acts of abuse or poor practice.
* Work as Part of a Team: Collaborate with colleagues and other professionals to provide comprehensive support.
* Maintain accurate records of support provided and report any concerns to senior staff members.
* Uphold the highest standards of health and safety practices within the environment.
* Maintain Confidentiality: Ensure all information about young people is kept confidential and shared only when necessary for their well-being.
Skills
* Experience in Working with Young People: Previous experience is desirable; training is provided if no previous experience.
* Empathy and Patience: Ability to understand and support young people's needs.
* Problem-Solving Skills: Ability to address and resolve issues effectively.
* Communication skills: Strong verbal and written communication skills to interact positively with young people, their families, guardians, and other professionals.
* Flexibility: Adaptability to different situations and needs.
* A proactive approach to problem-solving and behaviour management techniques.

* Deal with issues promptly and notify appropriate managers as necessary.
* Able to work a flexible working pattern including evenings, weekends, and/or sleep-in duties as and when required
* Full driving licence
Desirable
* One year’s experience as a support worker/residential care worker and/or transferrable skills from a role of supporting vulnerable adults/children. Examples include teachers, learning support assistants, prison and probation officers.
