About the Role
We are seeking a dedicated One-to-one Support Assistant to join our team. The successful candidate will support children with Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs and Special Educational Needs (SEN) in our preschool setting.
Key Responsibilities
* Provide one-to-one support for children with SEMH and SEN needs.
* Assist in implementing individual education plans and strategies.
* Work closely with teachers and other staff to provide tailored support.
* Encourage the social and emotional development of the children.
* Monitor and record the progress of the children, providing feedback to teachers and parents.
Person Specification / Qualifications and Training
* Relevant qualifications in childcare or education (Level 2 minimum)
* Training in supporting children with SEMH and SEN is desirable.
* Fluency in French is desirable, but candidates with the right training and experience will also be considered.
Experience
* Experience working in a nursery or school setting: practical experience in an early years environment is crucial. This can be gained through placements, volunteering, or previous employment.
* Experience supporting children with SEMH and SEN needs.
* Understanding of the EYFS Framework: Familiarity with the EYFS framework is important as it guides how to support children's learning and development.
Skills in Communication and Collaboration
Being able to effectively communicate with children, parents, and other professionals is key to supporting SEN children.
Skills and Knowledge
* Strong understanding of the needs of children with SEMH and SEN.
* Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
* Ability to work collaboratively with staff, parents, and external agencies.
Personal Qualities
* Empathetic and patient, with a genuine interest in supporting children’s development.
* Committed to upholding and promoting the ethos and values of the school.
* Ability to maintain confidentiality and safeguarding protocols.
Key Information
* Salary from £12.60 (Level 2) FTE £26,208 to £13.44 per hour (Fully Relevant Level 3 able to be including in ratios) FTE £27,955.20
* 5.6 weeks annual paid leave per annum, pro rata for less than a year
* 10% off classes for your children
* Term-time only role
* Fixed-term contract to start as soon as possible and until the end of this school year (22nd July 2025)
* Hours: Monday to Thursday, 9.00 am to 4.30 pm (half-an-hour lunch break)
* Location: Ecole Française de Bristol 35 Stanton Road – The Fonthill centre - Southmead, Bristol BS10 5SJ
