We are looking for a PCB Engineer to join a world leading semiconductor company at their site in Cambridge.
You will contribute to the design of cutting-edge compute platforms, working at the forefront of embedded hardware development.
This role focuses on co-designing PCBs & chip packaging for prototyping state-of-the-art SoC & FPGA-based platforms. These platforms support software development & validation for internal teams & external customers.
As a PCB Engineer your responsibilities will include:
* Define, develop, & commission new hardware platforms, focusing on PCB design & integration with chip packaging.
* Develop PCB breakout strategies & conduct Signal Integrity (SI) & Power Integrity (PI) analysis.
* Collaborate with chip packaging teams to influence SoC pinout design based on PCB constraints, feasibility, & cost analysis.
* Perform escape routing analysis for high-density SoCs & estimate IO routing capacity under specific design rules.
* Plan & schedule tasks to meet project deadlines, ensuring close coordination with the program team.
As a PCB Engineer your skills will include:
* Expertise in high-speed PCB design, including stack-ups & topology optimization.
* Proven experience working with chip packaging teams to align SoC design with PCB requirements.
* Strong understanding of SI & PI analysis from both board design & chip packaging perspectives.
* Extensive experience in embedded system board design, particularly with complex LSIs like FPGAs, & familiarity with high-speed IO standards such as PCIe & DDR.
* Proficiency in tools like Allegro PCB, Cadence CIS, HyperLynx, & Mentor PADS Layout.
* Experience automating tasks such as decoupling capacitor optimization, DRC, SI, & IC placement.
* Strong team collaboration & communication skills.
