The Company:
This is an opportunity for a deep-tech startup is pioneering adaptive neural networks for industrial control and robotics. Specialising in advanced “Micro AI” controllers, the company enables AI systems to be trained in simulation using digital twins and seamlessly deployed into real-world environments. They deliver solutions for industry 4.0, robotics and automotives.
They are looking for an AI Simulation and Modelling Engineer to join their expanding team. seeking a talented and experienced Simulation/Modelling Engineer. This role involves developing digital twin models and simulation engines to train AI controllers through reinforcement learning techniques.
You will contribute to a high-profile research project on AI control for unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) and work on various commercial contracts in industrial control sectors, including motors, furnaces, and chemical processes.
This role is ideal for someone with practical experience in reduced-order modelling of physical, chemical, or industrial systems and processes, who is eager to tackle real-world challenges with artificial intelligence.
Key Responsibilities:
-Develop and implement mathematical models of real-world systems.
-Build and refine core simulation engines and reference models with a focus on computational performance.
-Conduct data analysis, model calibration, and validation to ensure accuracy.
-Collaborate with the AI team on digital twin development, focusing on numerical stability and simulation fidelity.
-Identify and capture the physics and chemistry underpinning customer applications, defining model requirements.
-Work with customers and partners to gather feedback and refine models.
-Maintain high coding standards across all model codebases.
-Create visualization tools for digital twins and physics engines.
Experience required:
-Degree in a relevant engineering or scientific discipline (e.g., physics, chemical engineering, robotics, mathematics, computer science) or equivalent experience. An advanced degree is a plus but not required.
-At least 2 years of experience in digital twin development, physical/mechanical/chemical process modelling, or physical simulations balancing performance and fidelity.
-Excellent mathematical skills, including vector calculus, linear algebra, and 3D geometry.
-Proficiency in Python and experience with additional programming languages like C++ or Rust.
-Ability to create visualization tools (e.g., graphing and 3D visualizations using Python or JavaScript).
-Passion for physics, robotics, chemical engineering, and developing efficient, robust, and well-tested code.
-Fast learner, capable of picking up new technologies and methods quickly.
-Product-focused, with strong prioritization skills.
This is a fantastic opportunity to work on innovative solutions that are reshaping industrial control and optimization. You will have the autonomy to research, design, and implement innovative solutions while collaborating with team members and external partners.
