purpose
drive the international growth of wagamama by leading new market development from opportunity assessment to deal execution, while ensuring sustained commercial success in existing markets
support strategic planning, partner performance, and pipeline management across the global estate, providing commercial insights, financial reporting, and operational oversight to accelerate expansion and deliver against ambitious growth targets
key accountabilities
deals & new partnerships generation
* identify target markets for growth and recommend routes to market (e.g., franchise, joint venture, equity ownership)
* activate and engage potential partners for relevant markets, including travelling to further explore those opportunities and better understand targeted countries
* source and analyze market intelligence to assess opportunities for new partnerships and market entry, making data-driven decisions
* support the end-to-end contract negotiation process, coordinating with legal and commercial stakeholders
business development & commercial support
* support strategic planning for the international franchise and partnerships business.
* provide commercial analysis of sales performance and profitability across the international estate, advising on growth and improvement initiatives
* oversee the international existing and new restaurants pipeline, monitoring progress and supporting site approval & refurbishment processes as required
* refine processes for new market entry to secure partners and enhance their long-term success.
* manage existing franchise agreements, ensuring franchisees meet milestones, targets, and commercial obligations
finance & reporting
* support routine financial reporting and management of the international franchise and partnerships p&l
* assist with budgeting and forecasting processes for the business unit
key skills + requirements
* 3-7 years experience in a similar/related field
* international exposure and strong commercial acumen, with an ability to navigate global markets, franchise operations, and partnerships.
* experience or strong capability in market entry, site selection, and franchise relationship management, with a willingness to develop further.
* familiarity with franchise agreements, contract negotiation, and operating models (ownership, franchise, joint ventures, management contracts), working alongside legal teams.
* background in retail, hospitality, or consumer sectors preferred, with strong analytical skills in p&l management, budgeting, and forecasting
* proficiency in financial modelling and data analysis (excel), with experience presenting insights to senior stakeholders
* strong negotiation, communication, and stakeholder management skills, able to engage senior partners effectively
* a collaborative team player with leadership potential, eager to contribute to international growth
* passionate about brand expansion, with a willingness to travel as needed
