The Legislation and Information Unit (LIU) comprises of three teams, the Information Governance and Correspondence Team (IGCT), the Management Information and Analysis Team (MIAT) and the Legislation Implementation Team (LIT).
IGCT provides advice on data protection, correspondence, complaints, compensation claims, Freedom of Information (FOI), records management and unacceptable actions.
MIAT produces reports on court business. This information is key to ensuring that the actions and decisions of the Scottish Courts and Tribunals Service are based on high quality information, analysis and evidence.
LIT is the principal source of advice on the practical interpretation of legislation in relation to court procedure in the courts.
The unit lead and support a range of initiatives in the following key areas:
Developing and delivering effective legislation involving the Scottish courts
Providing guidance and advice to the SCTS on changes to legislation and business processes.
Developing and improving the SCTS’s business processes and services, and making appropriate use of technology.
Ensuring that SCTS keeps and secures important records, responds properly to requests and deals with complaints appropriately.
Providing a range of management information and analytical services to support policy and business process development, decision-making and measuring impact.
In the role of Legislation and Information Support Officer you will support the LIU by performing a number of administrative duties. Please see the key responsibilities section in the job information pack for more information.
Applicants must be comfortable using a variety of IT applications, particularly Microsoft Word and Excel. Experience of using SharePoint would be advantageous but not essential. Training can be given in the use of other Microsoft applications where necessary.
As part of any remote/hybrid working position the successful applicant will be required to attend Saughton House, where LIU are based, Parliament House, or another suitable SCTS location to help facilitate on the job training or team meetings.
