IHH-VAC Ltd is part of Jamesway, a leader in the field of the design and manufacture of commercial poultry incubation systems along with the supporting ventilation and climate control equipment. Jamesway equipment is supplied to a Global market from both our Bridgwater base in Somerset as well as our Canadian operations in Cambridge, Ontario.
As part of our continued growth and development we have a vacancy for a Senior Electrical Production Engineer to join our team to work supporting the design and manufacture of HVAC equipment including new concepts and the refinement of existing design, ensuring compliance with safety standards and electrical engineering codes. The engineer will also be responsible for the development of electrical engineering specifications and drawings, as well as working with other engineers and departments to ensure the successful implementation of the design.
Based at our Bridgwater factory, reporting to the Operations Manager, your responsibilities will include:
* Overseeing control panel design, ensuring the manufacturing processes and quality of work is done in a safe and efficient manner to the latest legislation, ensuring that the appropriate electrical regulations are met for the contract end destination.
* Adhering to the specifications and established industry standards of the product while ensuring that they meet the needs of the consumer.
* Coordinating the component wiring schedule for new contracts, creating and loading the BOM into our MRP system.
* Evaluating and evolving the final product in terms of appearance, performance, functionality, durability, and safety.
* Involved in the developing of the manufacturing processes and developing the supply chains of our key suppliers.
* Determining production cost and strategising the most cost-effective means of production.
* Communicating well with the engineering team to develop, train and implement the products.
* Testing equipment prior to dispatch which involves connecting all equipment ensuring that it meets the design specification, replicating the final installation on site. This will include using the HMI to check the performance, functionality and feedback from the pump, fans, actuators and sensors. You will troubleshoot to resolve faults, record findings and sign the equipment off for final shipment to our customer.
* Troubleshooting, offering guidance and support to customers with existing hatchery equipment or new installs.
* Keeping abreast of advancements in engineering and production and sharing knowledge with team members.
* Flexibility in supporting other roles within the company.
Attributes:
* HND in electrical engineering is desirable.
* A minimum of 5 years office-based experience as a Senior Electrical Production Engineer.
* Strong leadership abilities.
* Knowledge of manufacturing production and processes.
* Proficiency in 2D/3D such as AutoCAD, Inventor and/or Solidworks.
* Sound knowledge of design and electrical engineering principles and best practices.
* Experience using automated control equipment such as PLCs and VFDs.
* Proven experience of fault finding electrical and mechanical equipment including pumps, fans, sensors, and actuators. This is not an exhaustive list.
* PLC programming is an advantage but not essential.
* Experience with HVAC equipment and air handling units would be an advantage.
* Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
* Exceptional time management and organizational skills.
* Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
* Excellent attention to detail and critically minded.
* The ability to stay abreast of advancements in technology and engineering design trends.
* Ability to be flexible and open to changes.
* Self-motivated with the ability to take ownership working on your own or as part of a team.
* Proficient in Microsoft office applications.
Our standard employment conditions are:
* 37.5 Hour Week. Core hours, 8.00am start time finishing time 5.30pm with 1 hour for lunch, 5 days a week.
* There is a 1-hour flexible Start & Finish time. Providing you complete a minimum 7.5 hours per day.
* 20 days holiday + Bank Holidays, this increases 1 day per year worked to a maximum of 25 days + Bank Holidays. 3 days are allocated for Christmas shutdown.
* Contributory Private Pension scheme that the company will match your contribution of 4%. You do have the option of having this contribution paid into a pension of your choice.
* Death in Service Insurance 1 x salary.
There will be a 6-month probationary period.
