Job Summary
We have a rewarding opportunity available for a Female Peer Support Worker to join our Community Rehabilitation Team based in Central Bristol. Missing Link provides practical advice and support to individuals to allow them to maintain a rich and meaningful life. The aim is to deliver recovery and wellbeing opportunities for people with mental health and other support needs to achieve their hopes and ambitions.
As our Peer Support Worker, you will work collaboratively with the service user and mental health professionals to navigate and coordinate services (both social and clinical interventions), connecting into community resources, building resilience and improving wellbeing. Working within a recovery and psychologically informed approach, taking a holistic view to support people's recovery to live fulfilling lives. You will ensure that services are tailored to individuals' cultural and social needs.
Main Duties of the Job
Key Duties And Responsibilities Of Our Peer Support Worker
* Be an expert through personal lived experience of mental health recovery; to draw upon lived experience of mental health support needs and recovery to assist people to move forward positively.
* Be active in your own recovery and show a willingness to share recovery experience.
* Maintain hope and optimism for the individual with high expectations for recovery and build trusting and collaborative relationships with service users and other agencies.
* Identify, assess, contribute, maintain and manage risk to ensure risk is minimised.
* Co-produce, implement and review recovery plans, crisis plans and other self-management tools e.g. Wellness Recovery Action Plan, in partnership with service users and best practice.

Salary: £25,359 to £27,449 a year pro rata

Job Responsibilities
* Build trusting and collaborative relationships with the service user.
* Carry out role adhering to Mental Health Bristol Partnerships policies, procedures, values, code of conduct and current legislation using a Recovery oriented, psychologically informed, equalities based approach.
* Act as a specialist resource within the service, by offering a unique perspective to service users.
* Facilitate positive culture change within the workplace, as defined by system leadership.
* Support facilitation of delivery of the recovery plan to enable service users to make informed decisions about their mental wellbeing, maximising their independence and providing advocacy role where appropriate.
* Work in a culturally sensitive way for all service users, tailoring service to meet their individual needs, challenging stigma and discrimination, advocating for person if appropriate.
* Participate actively in supervision and reflective practice. Proactively seek advice and support from colleagues and other agencies as relevant.
* Collaborate with other team members to maximise service performance, meet targets and Service Level Agreements and promote effective communication and teamwork.
Person Specification
Experience Essential
* Proven experience of mental health issues and/or services, as a service user.
* Experience of recovering a meaningful life, and able to self-manage (with or without support) any ongoing mental health issues.
* Significant experience working with people with mental health needs, or people with complex needs.
* Proven experience of working with people with multiple needs (e.g. mental health, homelessness, alcohol/drug dependency long term conditions).

Qualifications Essential
* Numeracy and literacy to GCSE level/NVQ 2 or equivalent.
