The Role: A Geomorphologist/Hydromorphologist Position in a Dynamic Team
Binnies, a world-leading Water and Flood Risk Management company, is recruiting an experienced Geomorphologist/Hydromorphologist to join our Environmental Services team. Our team works on exciting projects for clients including the Environment Agency, Natural Resources Wales, Local Authorities, and Water Utility Companies.
This role will support our growing portfolio of water and catchment work, where we develop and test innovative approaches to catchment management and Solutions By Nature; a joint venture providing nature-based solutions via blue-green infrastructure to the water industry.
We welcome candidates from across the country and offer flexible working arrangements, with offices in Redhill, Bradford on Avon, Swansea, Birmingham, or Chester.
Description:
* Manage and undertake geomorphology surveys, including walkovers, fluvial audits, and site-specific surveys
* Produce and review Water Framework Directive Compliance Assessments to support environmental assessments
* Provide input to designs for river restoration, Integrated Constructed Wetlands, and Natural Flood Risk Management projects
* Input into Water Industry National Environment Programme (WINEP) projects
* Advise on implications for the water environment from engineering designs, as well as development of mitigation and enhancement opportunities
* Provide input to bids and proposals
* Liaise with project teams, clients, stakeholders, and the public as required
* Provide a mentoring/supervisory role to more junior members of our team
About You:
We are seeking an experienced environmental professional with full professional membership (such as CIWEM, IES, or IEMA). The ideal candidate should possess:
* An environmental related degree
* Chartered with a relevant institute
* A background in fluvial geomorphology/hydromorphology
* A sound understanding of Water Framework Compliance Assessments
* Experience of catchment management planning/schemes/projects, working with inter-disciplinary teams
* An ability to understand and apply analytical tools and models and manage data
* Experience of river restoration/wetland design
* Excellent written and oral communication skills
* A full UK driving license
