Context for the role:
The post holder will sit within the second line of defense (2LoD) risk function in the Organisational Risk team. This team is tasked with identifying and managing sustainability (ESG), behavioural and reputational risks arising from processes and procedures, behaviours and communication approaches that could impact M&G plc. As well as supporting M&G plc to manage sustainability risks, the team is also an active participant in industry collaborations and initiatives.
The Sustainability Risk Analyst will support the Head of Sustainability Risk and the Sustainability Risk team in the delivery of BAU activities such as the management of BAU processes including the production of risk reports and MI, delivery of research, insight and analysis, and providing responses to information requests.
The Sustainability Risk Analyst will be a key member of a multi-faceted team working flexibly and collaboratively to support colleagues to identify, assess, and record risks across the business.
Key accountabilities for this role:
1. Supporting the development of key risk indicators and effective monitoring processes
2. Development and management of accurate and informative MI and risk reporting
3. Review of risk reporting across M&G relating to ESG matters
4. Delivery of research, insight and analysis relating to sustainability risk matters
5. Creation, documentation, and management of BAU processes
6. Responding to internal and external information requests
Key knowledge, skills and experience:
1. Working knowledge of the financial services industry including the regulatory environment
2. Working knowledge of enterprise risk management frameworks including the development of key risk indicators, reporting, and MI
3. Knowledge of life & pensions and savings & investment products, markets, competitors, and customers
4. A passion for sustainability is essential and an understanding of sustainability matters in the context of financial services would be desirable.
5. Desirable - Knowledge of sustainability risk policy monitoring and management.
6. Strong team player, with proven ability to effectively collaborate within the team and wider business
7. Growth mindset, continuously developing self and challenging the business to improve.
8. Good communicator, written and oral – with proven ability to summarise large volumes of detailed information and produce structured documents in Word, PPT, and Excel
9. Self-starter, with strong time management skills, ability to deliver under pressure, prioritise to produce results, and communicate challenges
10. Experience of working within a risk management environment
11. Experience of working in a financial services business
12. Experience of using and managing tracking and risk management tools e.g. MetricStream
13. Desirable – experience of working in a sustainability risk management environment
