We have a fantastic opportunity for a Health and Safety Manager to join our team ideally based out of the Basingstoke office but can be flexible and open to location.
This role has some travel required across our operating area both in your local region and occasionally further afield in our geography for team meetings.
You should have a full driving licence with access to your own vehicle and be happy to travel.
Reporting into the Head of HSE, this role will have the autonomy to decide how the team operates, resources are deployed and how work gets done. The role will use professional expertise to manage HSE support across the business. The HSE Manager will have circa 4 – 6 direct reports.

The Role:
The role will manage health, safety and environment (HSE) support across SNG, including property services in their region, to achieve its ambition for sector leadership in health, safety and environmental. Provide leadership, collaboration, guidance and influence across the organisation to ensure operating risks are identified and managed in line with HSE risk appetite.
Key Accountabilities:
Manage the HSE Business Support team and HSE Advisory Property Services team with a focus on articulating a clear vision, providing direction, and fostering a culture of accountability, high performance, and continuous improvement
Take ownership of people related HSE matters and work with the relevant support teams
Provide leadership to motivate leaders and colleagues to embrace and embed SNG's Everyone, Safe and Well vision, strategy and safety management system
Provide specialist advice, guidance and support to all areas of the business, including Customer, Development and Enabling Functions
Coach and guide SNG managers, enabling them to develop their safety leadership knowledge, skill and application
Demonstrate active involvement in decision making for the annual HSE plan to drive continuous improvement, and to the tracking of HSE plan actions
Represent the HSE team in wider stakeholder leadership meetings and working groups, promoting delivery of agreed objectives, providing, technical knowledge, critical feedback, guidance, to support inter-departmental collaboration
Proactively promote the Everyone Safe and Well vision and principles, guiding by example to create a positive environment where health, safety and wellbeing are integral values for all colleagues
What we need from you:
You should have demonstrable experience as a Health and Safety Manager, with relevant qualifications such as the NEBOSH Level 6 National Diploma in Occupational H&S Management or equivalent Environmental Certificate NEBOSH, IEMA or equivalent. You'll also have:
Demonstrable experience leading a team of HSE professionals
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the proven ability to verbalise ideas and build strong stakeholder relationships
Experience in designing, reviewing HSE policies, procedures and standards
Ability to engage with multiple stakeholders, building positive and trusted relationships
Comfortable prioritising workloads and working with accuracy and attention to detail
