Job Description
We have a fantastic opportunity for a part-qualified accountant to join the Accounting Operations Team here at L&G in our Central Cardiff Office.
As a Finance Analyst you will provide analytical support and management information to business partners. You will also review and approve daily and monthly Accounting Operations transactions and take responsibility for reconciliations. As well as assisting with the preparation of financial ledgers and trial balances from which statutory financial accounts, tax and other regulatory returns can be produced.

What you'll be doing:
* Reviewing and approving journals for posting to the Oracle accounting system as part of statutory financial or regulatory reporting period end close, in accordance with Accounting Operations timetables.
* Taking responsibility for financial or box reconciliations, including the investigation and clearance of outstanding items, as per deadlines mandated in the Accounting Operations timetable, ensuring the reasons for reconciling items are clearly and concisely explained.
* Contributing to the accurate and timely preparation of the monthly financial / management accounts, related revenue, balance sheet, tax or other regulatory returns in accordance with Accounting Operations timetables.
* Assisting and delivering analytical support and management information to various business units, as well as ad hoc requests from Accounting Operations management.
* Adhering to robust financial controls in compliance with Group Standards, statutory and regulatory requirements and the risk and control framework. Including maintaining procedure notes and ensuring they are up to date and fit for purpose.
* Assisting internal or external auditors as and when required.
* Taking Responsibility for identifying and resolving issues and errors found in Accounting Operations processes, as well as identifying opportunities for process improvement, adding and maintaining them on the continuous improvement log and progressing them through to execution.
* Assisting with the maintenance, development and integration of relevant systems and supporting the team with projects, in particular testing, as and when required.
* Ensuring that the appropriate Finance MI, processes and systems are in place to provide support to the product divisions so that customers are treated fairly in line with Legal & General’s Customer Experience and TCF policy.
Qualifications
Who we're looking for:
* Part-Qualified/Student Accountant who is actively studying towards ACA, ACCA or CIMA Qualification (or equivalent) OR equivalently qualified by demonstrable, relevant experience within a Finance Environment
* Excellent knowledge of Microsoft Excel and experience using PowerPoint and Word is required.
* Experience of working on a core accounting system and performing ledger postings and reconciliations.
* Experience of using, extracting and reporting data from accounting and other office-based administration systems.
* Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to effectively interact with stakeholders across the business, as well as having the ability to actively listen to others and challenge to ensure understanding of their viewpoint is correct.
* Proactively seeks solutions to problems and escalates concerns/challenges accordingly.
* Clarifies objectives, aims and timescales to deliver the required outcome. So they can prioritise workloads effectively and obtain relevant information to assist in decision-making.
* Ability to build and develop strong relationships with peers and within the Accounting Ops leadership team, as well as acting as a valued business partner to other parts of the business.
* Ability to work independently or as part of a team, while planning and prioritising tasks.
* Attention to detail and accuracy is a must, with a constant commitment to producing high-quality work.
