Governance Lead – Fixed Term Contract

We have an exciting opportunity for a one-year contract to help us launch our new delivery pathway pilot. The successful candidate will love working at pace and through ambiguity to implement a new delivery structure. They will be passionate about continuous improvement to deliver a framework which is robust enough to be tailored while providing the right level of control. You will join a team of passionate individuals dedicated to excellent project management office support led by an inspiring, APM award-winning manager.
While mobilising and running the pilot, the individual will also act as a pivotal contact point for programmes in the existing framework, identifying and minimising service risks, maintaining and continuing our business as usual operations.
What will you be doing?
* Ratifying project timelines
* Monitoring resource levels against forecast and utilising insight to improve resource forecast
* Challenging risk and issue logs to ensure appropriate risk management
* Ensuring review cycles are adhered to and sufficient time is given to reviewers for verification
* Qualifying assumptions and tracking project dependencies and interdependencies
* Preparing and facilitating stage gate reviews
* Ensuring quality input into reporting and driving action from insight
* Critically reviewing current ways of working to drive continuous improvement and action (particularly on the pathway pilot)
* Other PMO activities as required by the role
What are we looking for?
* 2+ years’ experience in a programme or project related field (e.g. PM or PMO)
* Experience of using a PPM toolset to manage plans, resources, risks and issues
* Self-starter with a ‘can do’ approach, able to work independently and as part of a team in a dynamic, fast-paced environment
* Exceptional organisation skills, with the ability to be flexible and adaptive, pivoting priorities to meet multiple conflicting project demands
* Comfortable with working through ambiguity to implement structure
* Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, and collaboration skills – ability to work effectively across internal and external teams
* Ability to influence and drive improvements to project quality and ensure alignment with DCC standards and methodology
* Demonstrable experience of working in a similar programme and project environment within a technology industry
* Competent in using Microsoft suite of tools including Outlook, Word, PowerPoint, SharePoint, Excel, Teams and working knowledge of MS Project
* Excellent organisation skills – managing own tasks and those of other team members
* Work collaboratively with external stakeholders/Users/Customers
* Solution focused – not just finding problems but solving them strategically by getting to the root cause
* Growth mindset – looking for opportunities to improve
* Effective communicator – both written and spoken, communicating clearly not just what but also why and how you do things
* Comfortable working in high-pressure environments
