Night Veterinary Nurse Role
A registered veterinary nurse is needed to join the night nursing team at a referral clinic, with the aim of improving patient and client care. The clinic specialises in orthopaedic and neurosurgery referrals and is supported by a highly skilled team of AVP vets, nurses, and support staff.
The position involves working five consecutive nights (Monday to Friday, 18:00 to 08:00), followed by nine nights off. The nurse will be responsible for overnight care and support for surgical patients, with assistance from on-call veterinary surgeons to ensure the highest standards of patient safety, comfort, and recovery.
The clinic is well placed for access to the M1 and to the beautiful Derbyshire Dales and Peak District. It is a fully equipped referral centre, complete with a dedicated operating theatre, digital x-ray, ultrasound, endoscopy, and access to MRI and CT scanners. Currently, it is undergoing expansion and refurbishment to create an enhanced working environment.

Key Duties
The position is centred on delivering excellent care to patients, clients, and team members. Responsibilities include:
* Assisting with evening or overnight surgeries and procedures, including all pre- and post-operative care.
* Conducting nurse-led appointments and performing schedule 3 activities.
* Providing patient monitoring and care throughout the night.
* Managing admissions and discharges under the direction of the veterinary team.
* Dispensing and checking medications.
* Ensuring full compliance with regulatory, practice, and operational standards.
* Leading team briefings to ensure efficient practice operations.
Qualifications and Skills
* RCVS registered Veterinary Nurse.
* Proven track record of delivering exceptional patient and client care.
* Strong teamwork and communication skills.
* Experience in coaching and mentoring colleagues to improve team performance.
