About the role
You will oversee a portfolio of established journals, managing the process from the receipt of an accepted manuscript to its final publication, both online and in print. Your journal list will encompass a diverse range of subject areas; specific subject knowledge is not a requirement for this role.
You will engage daily with external contacts (academic editors and authors) and internal colleagues (Editorial, Content Services, Marketing, Sales) to achieve the best results for Cambridge and the academic community.
This role requires that you are both innovative and organised. You will manage a high volume of content alongside our workflow improvement initiatives as we continuously enhance our processes for Open Research. Key skills for this role include enthusiasm for trialing new workflows, adaptability to new ways of working, excellent communication skills, the ability to meet strict deadlines, and the capacity to juggle changing priorities.
You will receive ongoing training to support our products and your career goals. Content Managers are part of the Content Operations team, responsible for the publication processes and quality assurance for our Academic Books, Elements, and Journals. There are opportunities to learn about other content types, and we encourage continuous learning and flexibility.
About you
You are decisive, collaborative, innovative, responsible, and responsive. You possess excellent organisational skills, including experience in project management, and have a flexible approach to daily tasks, enabling you to adapt and meet strict deadlines in a fast-paced and evolving environment.
You are passionate about publishing and will have experience from a previous publishing role, providing insights into the key priorities for our industry, particularly the academic business. A working knowledge and keen interest in open access publishing are highly desirable.
You are familiar with the pressures and priorities of our customers and confident in corresponding with external and internal colleagues at any level of seniority. You are dependable, engaged, and enthusiastic about tackling problems with a 'can-do' attitude.
