We are seeking a motivated and enthusiastic early career highways engineer to join our dynamic team. The ideal candidate will have between 1 and 3 years of post-qualification experience in an highways/civils focused role, preferably in engineering consultancy.
The highways team works alongside several other engineering and environmental professionals within the Firm, including civil and structural engineers, drainage engineers, geotechnical engineers, planners, archaeologists, arboriculturists, landscape architects and ecologists. Experience of working within a multidisciplinary team is desirable but not essential. Project work will be varied, and there will be a strong focus on renewable energy, infrastructure and residential schemes as well as other commercial development projects. Project work will be within Wales and the South West and occasionally further afield within the UK.
Key Responsibilities:
* Assist in the design and development of highway projects.
* Conduct site inspections and surveys.
* Assist in the design of highways 3d modelling.
* Prepare technical reports and documentation.
* Collaborate with senior engineers and project managers.
* Ensure compliance with industry standards and regulations.
* Be an active member of the highways team and working collaboratively with the wider engineering service area.
Qualifications and Experience - we are seeking someone who has:
* A good level of both academic and professional qualifications in highways/civils or a related discipline.
* Experience of a range of projects including earthworks design and 3d modelling, highways design, drainage design, flood risk assessments, site services provision, report writing and production.
* Experience of assisting with submissions to the Highway Authority for technical approval and working with sectional agreements.
* Experience of using Civil 3D software, or similar.
* Knowledge of the Design Manual for Roads and Bridges and the Manual of Contract Documents for Highway Works.
* A flexible approach to work and sometimes working away from home (expenses paid).
* A full UK driving licence essential and access to own car is essential.
