JOB SUMMARY Assists in the management and supervision of all engineering/maintenance operations, including maintaining the building and physical plant with particular attention towards safety and asset protection. Assists with managing the budget, preventative maintenance, and energy conservation. Responsible for maintaining regulatory requirements. CANDIDATE PROFILE Experience: High school diploma; 2 years’ experience in the engineering and maintenance or related professional area; technical training in HVAC-R/electrical/plumbing. 2-year degree from an accredited university in Building and Construction, Engineering, Mechanics, or related major; no experience required. Skills and Knowledge: Strong communication skills (verbal, listening, writing) Technical understanding of different skills sets performed with the department, of the equipment in hotel and of the legal compliance Personable and people orientated demeanor with the ability to build relationships Problem solving and decision-making skills Planning and organisational skills Leadership Skills Good level of English essential SPECIFIC TASKS: Manages and assists the maintenance manager with the day-to-day operation of the maintenance department. Assists with managing the physical plant including equipment, refrigeration, HVAC, plumbing, water treatment and electrical systems. Assists with ensuring regulatory and legal compliance and safety standards. Assists with managing and controlling heat, light and power and recommends current best methods for energy conservation and economical facility operations. Distributes preventive maintenance and repair work orders and monitors timeliness and quality of completion. Assists with overseeing the maintenance external spaces, guestrooms, public space, restaurants, and recreational facilities. Assists with the development of a long-term plan for preventative maintenance and asset protection and overseeing execution of plan. Assists with the development of project plans in accordance with renovation or new construction needs. Coordinates with contractors for bids and construction to ensure timely completion of projects within budgetary guidelines. Develop strong working relationships with local and national contractors. Performs daily property inspections to ensure buildings and grounds are maintained in excellent condition. Conducts guest room and common area inspection to ensure guest satisfaction. Inspects and evaluates the physical condition of facilities to determine the type of work required. Recommends and arranges for additional services such as painting, repair work, renovations, and the replacement of furnishings and equipment. Selects and orders or purchases new equipment, supplies, and furnishings. Manages parts and equipment inventory. Strive to become property and building expert. Maintains a close working relationship with the Front Desk and Housekeeping team to ensure guest maintenance issues are rectified as soon as possible and the rooms and services required are available for guests. To be mindful of surroundings and to make sure all equipment is handled, stored, and used correctly and safely. Protect company tools, equipment, machines, or other assets in accordance with company policies and procedures. To adhere to COSHH safety standards and champion the safe and correct use of chemicals throughout the department.
