Role overview:
The Buyer role will play a vital role in ensuring the smooth operation of the supply chain by managing procurement activities, monitoring supplier performance and supporting key business objectives. The Buyer role offers an opportunity to work in a dynamic environment, contributing to the success of the organisation through efficient procurement processes and effective supply chain management.
Main duties:
* Placing Purchase Orders - Process & issue purchase orders in accordance with company policies, procedures and requirements. Ensuring accuracy and compliance in the supporting documentation & processed within a timely manner.
* Expediting Purchase Orders - Tracking purchase order progress with suppliers ensuring timely delivery. Resolving issues and delays promptly to ensure the continuity of supply to the organisation.
* Managing Supply Chain Project Activities - Support and lead supply chain production projects with the objectives of achieving agreed milestones, cost reduction initiatives, supplier development and process improvements. Working closely with internal teams to align project deliverables, providing regular updates & seeking a continuous improvement mindset.
* Managing Facilities Requirements - Overseeing the procurement of goods and services for facilities management, including maintenance and supplies. Liaising with internal stakeholders and vendors ensuring best value services are being utilised.
* Arranging Logistics Purchase Orders - Organising and managing the purchase orders for logistics and transportation needs. Coordinating with logistics partners to streamline delivery requirements and costs.
* Utilising M.R.P. (Material Requirements Planning) - Analysis and interpret MRP data to ensure procurement aligns with production and inventory requirements. Maintaining system accuracy by updating records and addressing discrepancies.
* Supplier Relationship Management - Developing and maintaining positive relationships with suppliers to ensure reliable service and competitive pricing. Providing suppliers with performance reviews and align the suppliers with the business objectives.
* Cost Management - Identify cost-saving opportunities whilst maintaining quality and delivery standards. Participating in budgeting and forecasting exercises related to procurement.
* Compliance and Reporting - Ensuring that all procurement activities comply with internal policies, industry standards and legal requirements. Provide regular updates and reports on procurement status, risks and opportunities.
Required:
* Experience in a manufacturing/engineering/technical product environment ideally within Life Science.
* 3-5 years' experience in a purchasing role.
* Proficient in CRM tools and ERP, Microsoft Office.
* Proven ability to work within a team.
* Excellent attention to detail, organised and methodical - a clear thinker.
* Outgoing, proactive and engaged.
* Able to multitask whilst remaining focused on achieving primary goals.
* Excellent communication skills (verbal and written).
* Good planner with ability to see the big picture as well as the detail.
* Driven to complete tasks in a timely and efficient manner.
* Compliant with Corporate, Local, Health, Safety and Environmental regulations.
Desirable:
* CIPS qualified (or working towards) or relevant business qualifications.
* Knowledge and experience of working with a Quality Management system to ISO9001:2015.
* Knowledge of ISO14001 Environmental Management System standard.
