Job overview
We are looking for an experienced Endocrine nurse to join the Diabetes & Endocrinology team with a passion for improving the experience and clinical outcomes for our patients who inspires others to provide excellent patient care.
The successful candidate will work autonomously in outpatients, supported by the medical endocrine team, to provide face to face and telephone consultations to patients with a range of endocrine conditions, particularly those with thyroid disease but over time extending into other areas. Using advanced decision-making skills, and collaborating with the medical endocrine team, the post holder will arrange and undertake endocrine tests as required. They will also have a key role in delivering education to other health care professionals focusing on all aspects of endocrine disease.
It is desirable that the successful candidate should be a qualified non-medical prescriber.
Main duties of the job
* The post holder is a recognised expert in the specialty, responsible for assessing, developing and implementing specialist nursing care programmes and undertaking specialist nursing procedures.
* Responsible for providing specialist advice and support to, and liaising with, other staff. This includes the provision of specialist education and training for other staff and students.
* Responsible for implementing a clearly defined integrated approach to patient care, encompassing new treatments and evidence-based care.
* Required to undertake research and lead clinical audits within their own specialist area.
* Accept patient referrals to agreed criteria and be identified as the key worker for an agreed patient/client caseload.
* Provide advice, education and support to patients, their carers and other health care professionals.

* Registered Nurse educated to Degree level or willingness to undertake.
