Practice Plus Group are pleased to announce that they will be taking over the healthcare contract at HMP Wymott, a Category C prison in Lancashire from 1st April 2025. We have an exciting opportunity for a Consultant Psychiatrist to join our Mental Health team there from April. The prison houses around 1100 men with a variety of health needs.
Hours
This position is working 22.5 hours per week.
Salary
You’ll receive an annual salary of between £170,000 and £180,000 FTE - depending on experience.
How will we support you?
* You will be part of a team of 15 plus experienced and supportive Consultant psychiatrists
* You will be able to attend monthly Consultant's meeting and 1:1 clinical supervision.
* Bespoke induction, including our Introducing Health in Justice training course

What you'll be doing:
* Provide excellent clinical care, assessment and treatment to patients on the case load onsite
* Actively participate in the strategic direction of the mental health service, lead the senior mental health clinicians on service developments and provide clinical supervision
* Work within the multi-disciplinary team to review referrals, determine appropriate treatment plans, conduct risk assessments, and engage in multi professional complex case reviews.

Qualifications required
* Registered professional with current registration (GMC)
* Specialist Registration in either General Adult or Forensic Psychiatry Approved under section 12 (2) of the MHS 1983
* Understanding of the complexities of multi-disciplinary and multi-agency working
* Up to date knowledge in the adult psychiatry and PD Awareness of current issues in mental health service provision, policy and legislation
