Role Overview: We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated SEMH Teaching Assistant to join our dynamic team. The ideal candidate will play a crucial role in supporting our students with SEMH needs, assisting in their educational and emotional development, and promoting a positive learning atmosphere. This is an amazing opportunity for somebody who wants to make a difference to young people from disadvantaged backgrounds and support young people to access education. Key Responsibilities: Support the classroom teacher in delivering engaging and tailored lessons that meet the needs of students with SEMH issues. Work one-on-one and in small groups with students to help them overcome barriers to learning and improve their social skills. Assist with the implementation of Individual Education Plans (IEPs) and monitor student progress. Foster positive relationships with students to build trust and confidence, encouraging them to express themselves. Help manage classroom behavior by employing effective strategies and promoting a calm and productive environment. Collaborate with other staff members, including teachers, therapists, and external agencies, to ensure a holistic approach to each student's education. Participate in training and professional development opportunities to enhance skills in supporting SEMH needs. Qualifications and Skills: Previous experience working with children or young adults, particularly those with SEMH needs, is desirable. A relevant qualification in education, child development, or a related field is preferred (e.g., Level 2/3 Teaching Assistant qualification). Strong communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to build rapport with students and staff. A patient, empathetic, and positive attitude towards supporting children with diverse needs. Knowledge of behavior management techniques and strategies for promoting emotional well-being. Ability to work collaboratively within a team and adapt to the individual needs of students.
