Blackburn, Childers & Steagall, PLC is seeking a motivated Tax Manager in our Boone, NC office.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
* Manage and mentor members of the Tax team to greater levels of effectiveness and engagement.
* Review and manage tax engagements.
* Assume full responsibility for directing large engagements and special assignments.
* Supervise the assignment of duties to, and the training of, staff and senior accountants assigned to engagements.
* Maintain effective control procedures over all aspects of the Tax process.
* Demonstrate a high level of technical proficiency.
* Demonstrate an understanding of business issues relating to complex transactions.
* Work and communicate effectively with clients to enhance their understanding of business and tax issues.
* Monitor legislative and regulatory tax law developments, and communicate the effects of these developments to the tax team.
* Review and correspond with the IRS and Department of Revenue as it relates to audits and notifications.
* Demonstrate an awareness of firm software packages and the ability to use such software effectively and efficiently.
Education and Experience Required:
* Bachelor’s degree in accounting required; master’s degree in accounting preferred.
* 5 years of experience in preparing and reviewing individual, partnership, and corporate tax returns with familiarity in payroll tax, sales tax, and general bookkeeping.
* Current CPA license required.
