Support Worker
Teen Support Services are currently seeking to appoint committed compassionate support workers to work with young people aged 16-25 in a supported living setting. The young people are always at the centre of what we do, and we are looking for dedicated support workers to provide high quality care and support to these young people and help improve their resilience, self-esteem and independence. The support you provide will be pivotal to the young people’s development and we are committed to safeguarding the young people and providing attentive and compassionate care.
Support workers will be required to float between different homes.
Responsibilities include (but are not limited to):
* Provide and maintain care and support of high quality which meets the physical, emotional, cultural, social and intellectual needs of the young people, in line with the 1989 Children’s Act, Supported Accommodation Standards 2023, Every Child Matters and other relevant legislation.
* Supporting the young people’s daily routines including promoting good hygiene, diet and exercise routines as well as promoting educational attendance and completion of homework.
* Supporting the young people’s emotional wellbeing in line with their risk assessments and support plans.
* Supporting young people with budgeting and how to manage their finances.
* Supporting young people to access community facilities and help them build confidence to do this independently.
* Conducting engagement sessions with young people and documenting these.
* Challenging negative behaviour and supporting young people to learn and engage in pro social conduct.
* Ensuring each young persons support plan is followed and amended as necessary to support their changing needs.
* Supporting the young people to maintain cleanliness of their rooms.
* Maintaining the safety of the home and ensuring it complies with health and safety regulations.
* Reporting any maintenance issues in a timely manner.
* Attending appointments such as medical appointments and appointments with other professionals.
* Supporting young people to set and achieve targets for independence.
* Completing daily paperwork to a high standard.
* Attending meetings with young people.
* Day to day tasks such as meal preparation, cleaning and laundry duties.
* Completion of specific checks such as fire check/COSHH.
* Build and maintain a positive working relationship with other professionals.
* Undertaking induction to the role.
* Safeguarding the young people.
* Supporting the active involvement of young people.
* Ability to use own initiative.
* Ensure compliance with legal and regulatory requirements, such as OFSTED supported accommodation and quality standards, Children Act 1989, Working Together to Safeguard Children 2018, Data Protection Act 2018, and Health and Safety at Work Act 1974.
* Ensure equality and diversity is incorporated into the culture of the home while also ensuring teamwork meets the needs of children from diverse backgrounds under the legislation, policy, and best practice standards.
* Teaching the young people life skills and encouraging the development of personal skills.
* Attending team meetings and contributing to them.
* Reporting any safeguarding concerns to the home manager.
Schedule:
* Day shift
* Night shift
* Out of hours working if required

Experience:
Applicants must hold Residential Childcare/Families Practitioner Diploma/Children and Young People's Workforce/NVQ Level 3 in Health & Social Care or equivalent. Other relevant qualifications would be accepted.
It would be advantageous if you can speak any of the following languages alongside English:
