Job description
As a Dental Therapist, you will play a crucial role in providing high-quality dental care to patients. You will work alongside dentists and other dental professionals to deliver preventive and restorative treatments, promote oral health education, and contribute to the overall success of the practice.
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
* Conducting routine dental examinations, including oral health assessments, periodontal evaluations, and screenings for oral diseases.
* Performing dental cleanings, scaling, and polishing to remove plaque, calculus, and stains from teeth.
* Administering fluoride treatments and applying fissure sealants to prevent tooth decay.
* Providing preventive dental care instructions to patients, including proper brushing, flossing techniques, and dietary advice.
* Assisting dentists in restorative procedures such as placing fillings, crowns, and bridges.
* Taking dental radiographs (X-rays) and interpreting radiographic images as required.
* Performing non-surgical periodontal therapy, including scaling and root planing.
* Providing topical anaesthesia and administering local anaesthesia under the supervision of a dentist.
* Educating patients on oral hygiene practices, dental treatment options, and post-operative care instructions.
* Maintaining accurate patient records and documentation of treatment provided.
* Collaborating with other members of the dental team to ensure the highest standard of patient care.
* Staying up-to-date with advancements in dental technology, techniques, and regulations through continuing education and professional development.
Requirements:
* Diploma or degree in Dental Therapy.
* Registration with the General Dental Council (GDC) as a Dental Therapist.
* Proven experience working as a Dental Therapist in a dental practice setting.
* Proficiency in performing dental cleanings, scaling, and polishing procedures.
* Strong knowledge of dental anatomy, oral health, and dental hygiene principles.
* Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to interact effectively with patients of all ages.
* Attention to detail and commitment to maintaining high standards of infection control and patient safety.
* Flexibility to adapt to the needs of the practice and work in a fast-paced clinical setting.
* Enhanced DBS dated within the last 12 months. On the update service? You could be fast tracked through our recruitment process today.
