Job overview
We’re looking for compassionate and caring Nursing Assistants with a passion to be a key part of the patient care journey here at Manchester University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust (MFT). Our Nursing Assistants take great pride in the essential work we do, going the extra mile for patients day in and day out. Our nursing teams are committed to delivering consistent, high-quality, patient-focused care.
You’ll communicate sensitively and compassionately with patients, relatives, and other members of the multi-disciplinary team, working flexibly across a range of day and night shifts over 7 days a week.
Main duties of the job
Supervised by Registered Nurses and within Trust guidelines and protocols, you’ll assist the Nursing team in delivering excellent patient care.
Your duties will involve supporting patients with personal care needs, including mobilising, toileting, bathing, dressing, eating, and drinking.
After on-the-job training and assessment, you’ll learn to undertake a range of delegated clinical care duties, including recording patient observations and changes to patient conditions.
On the Job Training Opportunities
Upon joining MFT, if you are new to healthcare, you’ll be supported to develop your knowledge and skills through our Support Worker Development Programme for Nursing Assistants. Completion of this programme will provide you with the opportunity to progress into a Band 3 Nursing Assistant role.
If you’re an experienced Nursing Assistant seeking a new opportunity in a Band 3 role, you’ll undertake a skills analysis to ensure you meet the skills required for your role. Any gaps identified will be addressed through access to relevant clinical skills modules.
Working for our organisation
MFT is one of the largest NHS Trusts in England, creating an exceptional integrated health and social care system for the 1 million patients who rely on our services every year.
We champion collaborative working, encouraging our 30,000 workforce to pursue their most ambitious goals. We’ve also created a digitally enabled organisation to improve clinical quality, patient and staff experience, and operational effectiveness.
Detailed job description and main responsibilities
Our Nursing Assistants take great pride in their essential work, committed to working with empathy, consideration, and dignity.
Upon joining MFT, you’ll be supported to develop your knowledge and skills through our Support Worker Development Programme, including completion of the Care Certificate for those who have not completed it previously. Completion will provide the opportunity to progress into a Band 3 Nursing Assistant role.
