Description The North West Regional Organised Crime Unit – NWROCU is a collaborative multi agency unit tasked with identifying, disrupting and dismantling organised crime groups who cause the most harm across the North West. This includes Cheshire, Cumbria, Greater Manchester, Lancashire, Merseyside and North Wales. This is an exciting opportunity for a Detective Sergeant / Police Sergeant to join the NWROCU to supervise one of the Operational Teams which is located in the South of the region. The successful candidate will drive a proactive investigative and operational response via enhanced partnership working. Alongside local forces and partner agencies the team will prioritise, target and disrupt cross border threats and middle market crime groups. This approach allows greater opportunities to support local proactive operations and investigations around key threat areas and impact on regional criminal activity leaving no safe space for OCG’s to operate within. Objectives will be to support thematic operations and target OCG’s in order to relentlessly disrupt and dismantle criminality, whilst building the highest levels of defence and resilience for vulnerable people, businesses and communities. The North West region has an extensive number of complex OCG’s who are capable of significant criminality with large-scale links to drugs, firearms and economic crime. The operational teams form part of a proactive response to these cross-border threats. The post is located at Saltney Police Station, situated on the North Wales and Cheshire border. The post is subject to a minimum 2-year secondment, subject to continuous funding, performance. Applicants who have previously been on secondment must have spent at least 18 months back in Force to be eligible to apply for a further secondment. Please note MV and SC vetting clearance is a requirement for the role. NWROCU is located in the Warrington area. There are good transport links and the motorway network. In cases where the commute to NWROCU is in excess of applicant’s current commute, excess travel will be paid. However, the role is to supervise a proactive team located near to the Cheshire/North Wales border. The applicant will be required to travel in this role including to the Warrington Hub on occasions.
