We are working closely alongside a Local Authority in Belfast to assist with the appointment of a Civil Engineering Officer, on a 3-month contract, highly likely to be extended at clients discretion. Rate of Pay : £18.35 - £23.60 per hour Responsibilities: To assist with and contribute to, in liaison with the Senior Civil Engineering Officer and Landscape Planning and Development Manager and as agreed and prioritised by the Departments Land and Capital Programme, an annual programme of project work involving civil engineering and to help prioritise, timetable and cost the work for approval. To assist with the supervision of the annual small works civil engineering tender so as to ensure that all work is completed to agreed quality, time and budget targets. To provide specialist civil engineering knowledge and advice to other council sections and departments and to contribute to corporate working groups as required. To assist with the preparation and supervision of the annual bitumen macadam contract and small civil engineering contract. To assist with the implementation and maintenance of a parks pathways, roadways and hard surfaces inspection system, including DDA implementation. To prepare payment certificates for projects and assist with the execution of the monetary control. Qualifications: Have a third level qualification in a subject such as Civil Engineering, or equivalent relevant qualification; Have a full, current driving licence which enables them to drive in Northern Ireland and a car available for official business, or, have access to a form of transport which will enable them to meet the requirements of the post in full; and Be able to demonstrate on the application form, by providing personal and specific examples, at least one years relevant experience, gained in the workplace, in three of the following five areas : On-site supervision of contractors in a construction environment; Detailed construction phase record keeping, for example, site measurement/surveying/inspection records; Knowledge of CDM regulations; Knowledge of method statements/risk assessments for construction works; and, or competent in the use of AutoCAD/MS Office/MS Project.
