This is a design, fit out and refurbishment specialist who require a Contracts / Project Manager with shopfitting and interiors refurbishment experience.
It's a great time to join the business; they have already secured last year's turnover in the first 6 months of this financial year. Their core clients keep giving them more work, hence this vacancy.
As the shopfitting and high street retail industries have become more competitive, this company has been fortunate enough to rely on their existing relationships for repeat business. As an £8m turnover business, they focus on developing relationships with their clients. You will have the opportunity to establish worthwhile relationships with end clients that will develop over the years. You will report directly to the company owner, so there aren't layers of process and management to navigate.
The Role
Projects valued between £750k - £1.5m.
You will be joining 2 other Project Managers, with a focus mainly on car showroom refurbishments, including interiors and some building work - cladding, steel, and external groundworks.
You should have experience in pre and post contract elements, including scoping, tendering, contract administration, and on-site management of contractors and other consultants. The most important aspect of this role is client liaison; you must be able to handle client and stakeholder inquiries, requests, and instructions effectively.
Duties include:
1. Ensure the delivery of the project within the specified budget and time scales.
2. Estimating contracts and tendering.
3. Ability to work independently and in a small team.
4. Quality, customer service, and delivery, as you may be working in a live environment at times.
5. Guaranteeing the profitability of the contract, including pricing and delivering extra works.
6. Excellent client liaison skills.
7. Business acumen with good financial management and the ability to introduce savings on costed projects.
8. Health & Safety control, both internally and externally.
9. Close and effective management of both directly employed staff and sub-contract labour to ensure commercial control is retained.
10. Development and oversight of monitoring systems to track the success of projects, final accounts, and contract variations.
11. Responsible for the day-to-day running of all varieties of contracts with values ranging from £10k to £500k.
12. Liaison and permit approval process with high street and shopping centres.
13. Client liaison and financial management of projects through to completion and final account.
14. The ideal candidate will be driven and proactive with shopfitting and retail fit-out experience.
15. Estimating knowledge is advantageous as the role involves site surveys and tender pricing.
16. Work in a fast-paced environment with new and many repeat clients.
17. Liaise with all suppliers and subcontractors pre-contract and during projects.
18. Responsible for material procurement and clients' own nominated trades.
19. Liaising with our in-house Designer and assistant for site set up files, risk assessments, and H&S files, including completion of O&M files.
