Key Responsibilities
1. Manage a caseload of housing disrepair claims, both pre- and post-litigation
2. Draft and send Letters of Claim to landlords
3. Collate special damages and review housing records to assess liability
4. Review surveyor’s reports (Claimant and Defendant)
5. Negotiate settlements and engage in mediations
6. Issue Court Proceedings when necessary
7. Liaise with counsel and external professionals
8. Use Proclaim (claims management software) to manage caseloads efficiently
9. Communicate effectively with clients, providing regular updates and exceptional client service
10. Build and maintain positive professional relationships across the business
11. Adhere to business processes and policies, ensuring the smooth running of cases
The Ideal Candidate
12. Previous experience in housing disrepair or contentious civil litigation
13. Proven ability to manage high-volume caseloads, including litigating from start to finish
14. Strong communication skills, both written and verbal
15. Highly organised, self-motivated, and detail-oriented
16. IT literate, with experience in Case Management Systems (Proclaim preferred)
17. Ability to work under pressure, prioritising tasks effectively
Qualifications & Experience
18. Degree-level education (preferably)
19. Essential experience in housing disrepair law, though candidates with substantial civil litigation experience will also be considered
20. Demonstrated ability to bill at Grade B or above
21. Familiarity with housing legislation, including the Landlord & Tenant Act 1985
