An exciting opportunity has arisen for a suitably qualified Associate Practitioner to join the All Wales Medical Genomics Service working flexibly for 37.5 hours per week. This is a permanent, full time post based at Canolfan Iechyd Genomig Cymru (Wales Genomic Health Centre) in Cardiff.
The All Wales Medical Genetics Service (AWMGS) provides a comprehensive clinical genetics and laboratory service to the 3 million residents of Wales.
AWMGS is a major stakeholder in the Welsh Government’s plan to create a sustainable, internationally-competitive environment for genetics and genomics. In July 2017, the launch and investment of monies to support the Genomics for Precision Medicine Strategy is looking to develop a service that is innovative, responsive, and well-connected to the major genetics and genomics initiatives that are evolving worldwide.
The post holder will be working within the technical team either within the extraction, PCR, fragment sizing, or NGS sections, and working in a fast-paced environment alongside Medical Technical Officers and Genetic Technologists.
The Directorate encourages personal development, and you will be expected to take an active part in the appraisal process. Not only is this a busy and challenging specialty, but you would also be joining a friendly, dedicated team in Medical Genetics.
The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post; Welsh and/or English speakers are equally welcome to apply.
