The role is required to protect our client’s commercial interests through effective commercial management, and ensuring the team are delivering the same through leadership, support and guidance. This includes ensuring contractual terms are understood, and that contractual events are properly managed to support delivering predictability for the project. You will build a strong working relationship with your clients and support the construction lead in turning the client’s vision into a deliverable onsite plan. Managing the contractual processes around variations and change events, working as part of an effective commercial team to provide support to the project/package managers, including working with other colleagues as required (e.g. PMO, planners and risk managers). Ensure all commercial information and communications with the client and their client are aligned with the project governance and all contractual requirements (i.e. early warning notices and/or compensation events). Attend client meetings as required, coordinating outcomes and actions raised with relevant stakeholders whilst always managing client’s expectations. Support the coordination of delivery workstreams, acting as ambassador for the client and key stakeholders as required for; commercial drivers, procurement/supply chain, production scheduling, quality assurance and other activities as required to ensure alignment and adherence to the project’s plan. Ensure there is always an updated estimate of the total project cost. Work with the project/package managers to effectively manage and communicate contract variations to ensure the project is aware of the current project position before any capital and/or resources are committed. Work with the project/package managers to manage any contractual handover processes as required. Produce commercial reports as required to inform the ongoing status of the project. You’ll need to have\: Regulated industry experience - nuclear/defence experience a preference. Experienced in the commercial management of NEC4 contracts. Experience of managing NEC contracts via CEMAR. To provide authoritative technical/professional advice in the commercial management of NEC contracts. To provide authoritative technical/professional advice in relation to procurement and supply chain management within regulated environments, including under bespoke contract conditions. To demonstrate knowledge of technical/professional principles, methods and processes including collection, analysis and interpretation of data and the reporting of results. To evaluate potential consequences of different courses of action, anticipating future developments and impact to provide recommendations and evidence-based solutions. To make decisions reflecting best practice and technical/professional theories and standards. To take responsibility and ownership for the impact of their decisions. Extensive experience as a commercial manager managing NEC contracts. Extensive experience of managing contracts and ensuring contract terms and conditions are applied. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills and able to operate as part of an integrated delivery team. Provide confident and competent advice and representation in client-facing activities to create solutions which are fit for purpose, delivering predictable outcomes and the best value for the client. Experience of leading a commercial team/function. Experience of commercially managing projects within a regulated environment. You’ll also have: Degree in quantity surveying/cost management (or equivalent). Professional membership or working towards i.e. MRICS/RICS, or equivalent demonstrable professional or personal development. Excellent commercial and financial acumen. Knowledge of value engineering, life cycle costing, contract law and contractual frameworks relating to construction, with some experience of QDC’s being desirable. Experience leading the commercial team as part of a large, diverse team. Awareness of how carbon and sustainability considerations may influence the project. Membership of MCIOB/MAPM/MRICS/MICE or equivalent demonstrable professional or personal development. Construction management expertise. Developing commercial and financial acumen. Experience leading parts of construction projects within large, diverse teams. Experience of building relationships with key stakeholders. Knowledge of how carbon and sustainability considerations will shape the outlook of the projects you are working on.
